Maths — confident calculation and thinking that works
Applied maths for children aged 5 and over: through problems, games and real-life situations, children move beyond memorising rules and start understanding how numbers work.
Who is this course for?
- ✦Your child is aged 5 or over and finds school maths difficult — or too easy
- ✦You want to overcome a fear of mistakes and rebuild confidence
- ✦Your child can calculate but does not understand how it is useful in everyday life
- ✦You want a strong foundation for programming, robotics and the sciences
Is previous experience needed?
No. Before the course begins, the teacher carries out a short assessment to identify your child’s level, so they start at a stage that feels both comfortable and interesting.
What your child will learn to do
Calculate quickly and confidently — orally, in writing and mentally
Understand what a problem means rather than guess the answer
Work with geometry: shapes, perimeter, area and volume
Use fractions, percentages and decimals in real-life situations
Read graphs and tables, analyse data and draw conclusions
Solve logic problems and explain their reasoning
School maths + thinking skills
School foundations
We fill gaps in the school curriculum: arithmetic, times tables, fractions and geometry. Children stop feeling afraid of tests.
Understanding, not rote learning
We explore every rule through practical examples: money, time, measurements, shopping and distances. Children see why it matters.
Mathematical thinking
Logic problems, puzzles and data activities teach children to reason, form hypotheses and justify their answers.
Three course levels
Counting up to 20, first geometric shapes, word problems, measurements, time, money and logic.
Lessons at RoboLab
Teacher

Ruslan Smirnov
A graduate of Moscow State University and HSE University, he has taught maths to children and teenagers for over 5 years. His lessons focus on understanding: exploring what a problem means, showing where maths appears in everyday life and helping children find solutions for themselves.
What to study next
Scratch
A strong maths foundation is the best start for programming: logic and algorithms in Scratch.
What parents say
«Thank you so much for the maths lessons! You have very good teachers, and I really enjoyed your lessons. Thank you from Mark, aged 8.»
«My daughter has been attending RoboLab for 2 years. She started with robotics and now studies maths. We are very happy. Professional and attentive, with an individual approach even though the lessons are in a group.»
«The children loved attending maths lessons during the school year, and have now spent an exciting week at summer camp!»
Maths trial lesson
Free and with no obligation: the teacher assesses your child’s level and recommends which stage to start at.
